DZK Skatepark

We encourage you to spend a few moments on this page, read through this text, and look at the many photos below that represent 10 years of advocacy, fundraising, designing, and building the DZK Skatepark.

In February of 2023 we lost our dear friend Dorian Zev Kweller. He was a talented musician, skateboarder, and friend to everyone he met. There is an old quote in skateboarding that goes something like “the best skater is the one having the most fun.” That was Dorian, hands down.

After many years of advocacy, fundraising, and design we knew it was undeniable that the Dripping Springs Skatepark be named in his honor. Hundreds from our community petitioned the Parks & Recreation Department as well as City Council to name the park after Dorian. At the time no other project had gone through this process and we were the first to be granted approval.

The Kweller family has a deep connection with our skateboarding community and we love them dearly. We are thankful for the time we had with Dorian and know that he’s looking down on us with a huge smile on his face. We look forward the many memories that will be created at the DZK Skatepark.

A huge shout out to SPA Skateparks for building DZK and New Line Skateparks for helping us with design. Everyone that has been to the park has commented on what a fantastic, plaza-style, skate experience it is! If you are looking for guidance regarding skatepark advocacy and fundraising, we’re always willing to help. Please feel free to reach out!

Almost every community driven skatepark project consists of 4 phases: Advocacy, Fundraising, Design, Build. We’re by no means experts, but we learned a lot during the 10 years of work put towards the DZK Park. Scroll down below to see photos from each phase of the process. If you are an advocate working on a skatepark project, don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
